Learning objectives:
  The course should provide the student with the basic theoretical knowledge and practical experience from the area of medical informatics and bioinformatics. The knowledge covers area of processing of specific medical and biological data and computer-aided medical diagnostics.

  Computers in medicine and biology. Data in medicine. Electronic healt record. Probability reasoning. Fuzzy logic. Expert systems. Biomedical statistics. Traditional genetics. Genomics, proteomics and taxonomy. Processing of biological sequences. Standards in medical informatics.
Knowledge and skills required for the course:
  The subject knowledge on the secondary school level is required.

  Basic knowledge and skills in medical informatics with particular emphasis to processing of medical data.
