EnrolmentIt is only through enrolment that you become a regular student of the FIT. The date of enrolment is indicated in the electronic application or in the news on the faculty.s homepage.
Before enrolmentYou will need the following for the enrolment:
After enrolmentAs soon as your enrolment has been processed, your initial password for BUT.s school-wide information system will become accessible in your electronic application. Using this password and your personal identification number (foreign nationals will use the birth code which is available in the Completed data tab), you can activate your account for the BUT information system on the initialisation page of the IS BUT by setting the BUTpassword. You will learn your personal number and BUTlogin upon activation. You will then use the BUTlogin (or personal number - the two are interchangeable) for the school-wide agendas.
Before the beginning of teachingAs a rule, teaching in the winter semester begins the last but one week in September; the exact date is determined by the Academic Calendar. You can visit the Faculty and collect the BUT student identity card or ISIC approximately from the first week in September (the exact date and instructions will be made available in the Study News).
The Faculty has its own information system accessible using the faculty account. A summary on when to use which account is provided in the document on accounts; the homepage of the information system contains a link to the Faculty login and password.
Matriculation and Start@FITMatriculation, which takes place on the last Friday before beginning of teaching in the relevant semester, is an academic ceremony on the occasion of admitting students for their studies. Attendance in matriculation is de facto compulsory. For detailed information and division into groups, please refer to the Study News.
Matriculation is followed by a 60-minute training on how to use the Faculty information system and the BUT information system. This training will help you comprehend both systems and the process of registration for courses and exercises (schedule). The process of registration for exercises will begin on the same day in the evening and continue on the following days.
The training on the information system will be followed by a compulsory 30-minute training on the Operating Regulations of the FIT Computer Centre. Before the first laboratory (at latest on its beginning), you must pass a test in the information system to prove that you got familiar with the Operating Regulations. If a student is unable attend the training, he/she can later watch a recording. However, the recording will only be available in the following week (updates can be expected against previous years).
After the training, every student who has not yet done so can collect the BUT student identity card or ISIC in one of the rooms where the training takes place.
The main part of the Start@FIT event will take place on the next day (Saturday), starting with an official welcoming of students by the Faculty management and a lecture on the academic environment, general study-related matters and other matters you will need to know for your studies. This lecture will be followed by lectures of the Student Union and entertainment programme organised by the Student Union.
For the participants at the Start@FIT event it is recommended to accommodate in the dormitories since 13. September 2018.
Note for students who are not new at BUT
Students who have studied at BUT before need not (and in fact cannot) set their BUTpassword. The password they used most recently remains valid. Also the Faculty account is only reactivated.
If a student has the student identity card (from any faculty), he/she need not order a new card. The identity card is activated at the time of enrolment for the access system; for the identity card to be used as proof of study, it is necessary to have the validation stamp glued at the Student's Affairs Department. The ISIC validation stamp should be ordered at the BUT portal, whereas the BUT validation stamp can be collected in person. The BUT stamp can also be used to validate ISIC, thus reducing it to a BUT card.
